The Guadagnini cello scroll. Ist coat after the ground - trans yellow and cassel earth pigment.
The coat is just rubbed on - so its very thin. A small brush helps to get into the corners. This varnish is highly pigmented so needs a bit of driers
to counter the slow drying of these particular pigments. This rubbing process seems a bit slow - but it leaves the sort of
finish that needs no rubbing back or buffing out etc. This can play havoc with colour coats. I'm deliberately not adding any red to this
until the last overcoat. I want a red varnish sitting over a yelow brown ground.
